Join BSA Troop 430: Information
BSA Troop 430 always welcomes new Scouts, in fact, we encourage it. Here are a few simple things you need to know or have completed after your first few scout meetings:
1. Meet the age requirements
Be a boy who is 11 years old, or one who has completed the fifth grade or the Arrow of Light award and is at least 10 years old, but not yet 18 years old.
2. Complete a Boy Scout application and a health history signed by your parent or guardian
3. Find a scout troop near your home (like Troop 430)
4. Repeat the Pledge of Allegiance (in a meeting)
5. Demonstrate the scout sign, salute, and handshake (in a meeting)
6. Demonstrate the tying of a square knot (page 8, in a meeting)
7. Understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath or Promise, Law, Motto, and Slogan, and the Outdoor Code (in a meeting, on page 9)
8. Describe the Scout Badge (on page 10, in a meeting)
9. Complete the pamphlet exercises
With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parents Guide (Inside front cover; Page 11)
10. Participate in a Scoutmaster Conference (in a meeting)
Turn in your Boy Scout application and health history form signed by your parent or guardian, then participate in a Scoutmaster Conference.
